ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – City Council approved an ordinance Wednesday night to transfer an undersized city-owned lot located at 17 S. Vermont Ave. in the Southeast Inlet to the Lighthouse Row developer for $1,000. The lot, which has no improvements and is too small for independent development, will be included in the Lighthouse Row development project, an eight-townhome complex in the area. In addition to the land transfer, the Council passed ordinances supporting solar system installation, creating an ecologically green purchasing program, and banning shopping carts and unattended personal belongings from the Boardwalk. The shopping cart and unattended personal belongings ordinance allows city workers to confiscate and dispose of abandoned items. Lighthouse Row will consist of eight 1,750-square-foot homes, designed with solar panels and hurricane-resistant construction. The homes will offer waterfront views, with large decks and windows. The Southeast Inlet area has seen increased development in recent years, including a newly rebuilt Boardwalk, a market-rate apartment building, and the upcoming addition of a dog park and pickleball courts.
