Atlantic City Launches Free Summer Concert Series Across Three Iconic Venues

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — A full season of live music is taking over Atlantic City, with three different concert series offering free shows through September. Sponsored by the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority, the programming spans soul, funk, rock, jazz, and more, with events set at Historic Gardner’s Basin, Kennedy Plaza, and Chicken Bone Beach. The first of two R&B concerts at Gardner’s Basin is set for Saturday, June 21, from 1 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., featuring artists like Joe Bataan, Meli’Sa Morgan, Full Force, and The System. A second show follows on July 26 with performances by Russell Thompkins Jr. & The New Stylistics, GQ, Blue Magic, and others. Guests are encouraged to bring chairs, umbrellas, and coolers for these outdoor afternoon events. The Mardi Gras AC series at Kennedy Plaza begins June 25 and runs every Wednesday evening through September 3. The 11-show lineup includes Shemekia Copeland, Gary U.S. Bonds, Galactic, and Devon Allman. Concerts will move indoors to the Claridge Hotel if weather becomes an issue. Every Thursday starting July 3, the Chicken Bone Beach Jazz Concert Series returns to Kennedy Plaza at 7 p.m. Artists include Chief Adjuah, Vijay Iyer Trio, and Arturo O’Farrill & The Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra.
