Atlantic City Man Found Dead on Route 40 Overpass Near High School

ATLANTIC CITY — Vaughn Lyons, 43, was discovered shot to death late Sunday night on the Route 40 overpass near Atlantic City High School. Authorities responded to a 911 call around 11:20 p.m. reporting a man lying on the overpass at 1400 N. Albany Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found Lyons unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Southern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the cause of death as gunshot wounds. The homicide is under active investigation by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Major Crimes Unit and Atlantic City Police Violent Crimes Unit. This incident marks Atlantic City’s second homicide in just over a week.
