Atlantic County Adds New Shuttle Route with $400,000 Grant

Northfield, NJ — Atlantic County is expanding its fare-free shuttle service with the help of a $400,000 state grant. The funding will allow for the addition of a new route, increasing the number of shuttle stops and providing greater access for residents in Egg Harbor Township, Pleasantville, and Atlantic City. The new route will operate five days a week, offering five daily round trips and 11 total stops, beginning on September 2.
The service is part of New Jersey’s Transportation Accessibility and Mobility Pilot Program, which aims to improve transportation options for South Jersey residents. The program specifically targets those in rural areas facing mobility challenges due to income or limited transportation options. The expanded shuttle service will be available to all county residents and workers, with no proof of financial status required.
The route is designed to help people access important services such as employment, healthcare, and government offices, with stops near key locations like the Social Security office and AtlantiCare facilities. This initiative is part of a $2 million statewide effort, with similar grants awarded to other counties in South Jersey.
