Villas, N.J. – Residents in Lower Township could soon have the option to receive cannabis products by delivery from local retailers, following a proposed change to local law. Township Council introduced an ordinance on May 19 to align its regulations with state licensing updates, potentially expanding services for the area’s sole licensed dispensary, Sea & Leaf in North Cape May. Under the ordinance, cannabis retailers with the proper state approvals could begin offering home delivery services, provided they comply with Cannabis Regulatory Commission rules. The move comes in response to a recent change to state law that now allows Class 5 cannabis retail license holders to deliver products directly to customers without holding a separate delivery license. Lower Township had initially approved two retail and two delivery licenses in 2021, but only one—Sea & Leaf—has been issued so far. A public hearing and possible adoption of the ordinance is scheduled for June 16.
