CAPE MAY, NJ — Cape May MAC (Museums+Arts+Culture) is offering American Sign Language (ASL)-interpreted trolley and walking tours throughout the year. The initiative was inspired by Nanci Coughlin, Director of Tour Operations at Cape May MAC, who witnessed a friend’s deaf sister miss out on shared experiences, which motivated her to pursue ASL classes. In 2024, Cape May MAC hosted its first ASL-interpreted tour, providing full access to Cape May’s history for deaf guests while also raising awareness among hearing participants. The tours allow for extra time at the end for questions and an additional opportunity to revisit the sights without distractions. The public can enjoy these tours on select dates throughout the year. For more details and to make a reservation, contact Nanci Coughlin via email at ncoughlin@capemaymac.org or by phone at 609-224-6030. TTY users can access the New Jersey Relay Center at 800-852-7899 (or dial 711 in New Jersey). For additional information, visit Cape May MAC's website at capemaymac.org.
