Cape May Point, N.J. — The Cape May Point Arts and Science Center will hold its second annual Marine Science Symposium from May 30 through June 1, 2025. Registration remains open for students, professionals, and community members interested in marine science and ocean health. This three-day event provides a platform for undergraduate and graduate students, researchers, and marine science professionals across the Mid-Atlantic region to present original research, exchange ideas, and foster collaboration. Activities will include keynote addresses, student poster and oral presentations, panel discussions, and networking opportunities against the backdrop of Cape May’s coastal ecosystems. The program features 23 student presentations, ranging from high school to PhD-level researchers, and four professional scientists who will present research on marine mammals, marine debris, and citizen science in fisheries. Keynote speakers include Dr. Sean Burcher, Science Director at the Center, who will discuss marine telemetry technology; Dr. Michael Denk, veterinarian and researcher on beaked whales; and Michael “Salty” Fogg, an expert in fisheries tracking. The symposium focuses on expanding marine research and engaging the Cape May community in conservation efforts. Discounted registration rates are available to encourage student participation.
