BRIDGETON — Cumberland County Commissioners Victoria Lods and Doug Albrecht recently attended the Bridgeton Area Chamber of Commerce’s Legislative Breakfast at Bridgeton High School. The event brought together various local leaders, including Mayor Albert Kelly, Assemblymen Erik Simonsen and Antwan McClellan, and members of the Bridgeton Board of Education. The focus of the gathering was to engage high school students in a discussion about public service and the importance of civic participation. During the breakfast, the leaders shared insights into their journeys into government and offered advice on how students can get involved in their communities. The event provided an opportunity for students to interact directly with their elected officials, ask questions, and gain a deeper understanding of the political process. Discussions centered around the value of public service and how young people can contribute to shaping the future of their communities. For the legislators, the event was an opportunity to connect with their youngest constituents, fostering a sense of community and encouraging the next generation to become civically engaged. For the students, it was an eye-opening experience that allowed them to learn more about the roles their local leaders play and the significance of their own involvement in government.
