MAURICE RIVER TOWNSHIP, N.J. — A Cumberland County man already under indictment in a large-scale dogfighting operation is now facing new charges related to drug manufacturing and distribution. Bruce Low Jr., previously identified as one of the country’s top five breeders of fighting dogs, was arrested Monday after law enforcement intercepted a package of opioids sent to his residence from India. According to investigators, the package contained over six kilograms of tapentadol, a powerful prescription opioid. New Jersey State Police and federal agents executed a controlled delivery of the package to Low’s home before carrying out a search warrant. During the raid, authorities found an open package of the drugs, liquid morphine, cash, and equipment commonly used in drug production. That included grinders, mixers, cutting agents, scales, and materials used for packaging. Low was charged with multiple first-, second-, and third-degree drug offenses and is currently being held at the Cumberland County Jail. These new allegations follow Low’s indictment last month in connection with an April 2024 raid, where authorities seized more than 100 fighting dogs, training equipment, and evidence of an illegal operation tied to racketeering and money laundering. Investigators believe the proceeds from the operation were funneled through a construction business run on the same Maurice River Township property. Low previously served time on federal drug and weapons convictions in 2006.
