EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, N.J. — Three Egg Harbor Township police officers pulled an unconscious man from his burning car after a crash, earning praise for their quick action. The 32-year-old local was driving east on Delilah Road when his vehicle veered off, slamming into a tree around midday. Police say he was trapped and out cold as flames started licking the wreckage. K-9 Officer Michael O’Hagan and Officer Dominik Newman arrived first, diving in to free the driver from the mangled car. They got him out just as Officer Matthew Perkins tackled the growing fire, putting it out before it could spread further. Emergency crews from Egg Harbor Township EMS and Atlanticare paramedics treated the man on-site for serious injuries, then rushed him to Atlanticare Regional Medical Center’s trauma unit. He’s listed in stable condition. The crash shut down Delilah Road between Black Horse Pike and English Creek Avenue for about four hours as crews cleared the scene and investigators got to work. Officer Nathan Lahr of the Traffic Safety Unit is leading the probe and asking witnesses to reach out at Nlahr@ehtpd.com or 609-926-2661. The officers’ swift moves turned a potential tragedy into a rescue worth celebrating.
