Ocean City, N.J. — Harold Perkins, 38, appeared in court Monday after being arrested for allegedly placing six hidden cameras disguised as pens in public bathrooms along the Ocean City boardwalk. Police say Perkins arrived in Ocean City on June 12 and planted cameras at bathrooms on 6th, 10th, and 11th streets. Surveillance footage reportedly shows him changing his appearance multiple times while placing the devices. Prosecutors say the cameras captured several victims, including children. Authorities describe Perkins’ actions as premeditated, noting his use of gloves, hats, and sunglasses to avoid detection and leaving forensic evidence. During a home search, Perkins’ wife told officers he was unusually eager to take out the trash the day before the alleged incident, and the trash allegedly contained packaging related to the recording devices. Perkins was arrested June 20 in Philadelphia after being tracked by license plate readers. He faces charges including invasion of privacy and endangering the welfare of children. A judge ordered him held without bail pending trial. Perkins’ next court date is August 18.
