Mays Landing Woman Admits to Stealing $147K from Senior Community, Faked Child’s Cancer to Delay Court

Mays Landing, New Jersey – Alicia Campbell, 37, of Mays Landing has admitted to stealing more than $147,000 from a senior living community and attempting to delay her court appearances by falsely claiming her child had cancer. As the lifestyle director at the Greenbriar Oceanaire Community in Ocean Township, Campbell was supposed to allocate funds for community events but instead used the money for personal items between January 2019 and January 2022.
She also funneled more than $94,000 through Venmo from the association's accounts into her own. While facing charges for theft and obstruction of justice, Campbell claimed her child was undergoing cancer treatment in Philadelphia and later at the Texas Children’s Hospital, leading to multiple adjournments of her case.
However, an investigation revealed that the documentation she submitted was forged, and her child had never received treatment at the hospital. She is set to be sentenced on September 5, facing up to six years in prison for the theft and 18 months for obstruction.
