Middle Township Committee Utilizes Extended Deadlines for 2025 Budget Completion

COURT HOUSE – The Middle Township Committee is making use of extended deadlines provided by the state to finalize the 2025 town budget. To maintain normal operations during the delay, the committee increased the funds in the temporary budget resolution, approved on March 17. The committee raised the current fund from $6.8 million to $12 million and the sewer utility’s budget from $1 million to $2 million. The state’s guidelines govern the temporary budget’s structure and maximum amounts, with extended deadlines often tied to delays in settling the state budget, which can affect municipal aid.
This year, the budget introduction deadline was moved from February 10 to March 31, and the adoption deadline was extended from March 20 to April 30. The resolution formally allows the township to take advantage of these extended deadlines, providing additional time for the municipality to consider external factors influencing its finances.
