Middle Township Police Youth Camp Receives State Grant for 2025 Program

MIDDLE TOWNSHIP, N.J. — The Middle Township Police Department has secured an $8,256 grant from the New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety to support its 2025 Summer Youth Camp. The funding was awarded through the Juvenile Justice Commission’s Summer Expansion Programming, part of the Governor’s Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention initiative. The grant helps cover costs for the week-long camp, which is free for local middle school students. Over the past seven years, more than 500 students have participated in the program. The township also depends on local business sponsorships and individual donations to keep the initiative running each year. The camp offers a mix of fun and structured activities led by Middle Township police officers and community volunteers.
Daily programming includes team-building events like laser tag, boat rides, and water park trips, along with physical training and educational workshops. Sessions provided by Cape Assist, a Wildwood-based prevention agency, focus on substance abuse awareness and healthy decision-making. The program is designed to develop leadership, communication, empathy, and teamwork among participants. By offering positive experiences with law enforcement and community mentors, the camp aims to foster stronger relationships between youth and local officers. This latest round of funding allows the department to continue expanding opportunities for area students and ensures that the camp remains accessible to all who want to attend.
