Lower Township, N.J. — The Naval Air Station Wildwood Aviation Museum is set to welcome a combat-tested AV-8B Harrier II+ on loan from the National Naval Aviation Museum in Florida. The aircraft will arrive by truck Tuesday at the museum located on the grounds of the Cape May County Airport. The Harrier II+, known for its vertical take-off and landing capabilities, served with Marine Attack Squadron VMA-542 and completed 219 combat missions from 1993 through 2024. Its unique ability to operate without long runways enabled rapid response, precise strikes, and battlefield hovering. This acquisition marks a significant enhancement to the museum’s collection, highlighting Marine Corps aviation history and East Coast aviation interests.
