TRENTON, N.J. — Alisa Cooper, the vice chair of the New Jersey Casino Control Commission, will officially step down from her role on Thursday, concluding a distinguished 13-year tenure. Cooper, one of three members of the commission, was first appointed in 2012 to fill an unexpired term, before being reappointed for two full five-year terms in 2014 and 2021. The commission is responsible for overseeing the state’s casino industry, including licensing and regulatory enforcement. Although Cooper is leaving her position, she plans to remain involved in Atlantic City’s activities, although specifics about her future endeavors have not been shared. Before joining the commission, Cooper served two terms as an Atlantic County freeholder. She has deep roots in local political circles, with close family connections to regional leadership, reflecting her long-standing commitment to the area. Her departure marks the end of a significant chapter for the commission, which continues to play a crucial role in overseeing New Jersey's gaming sector.
