ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — Ocean Casino Resort has been fined $10,750 by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement for violations involving dealer conduct during blackjack and mini-baccarat games. The penalty was announced on the agency’s website on Wednesday. In June 2024, a dealer dealt 25 consecutive blackjack hands using unshuffled cards after failing to activate the automatic card shuffler. The error was discovered by casino staff, and the dealer faced disciplinary action. In December 2024, casino dealers allowed a patron to adjust wagers multiple times on mini-baccarat tables after bets were already placed. This violation occurred on nine occasions and resulted in a loss of $5,475 for the casino. The patron involved was arrested and charged with cheating; court proceedings are ongoing. State law mandates that cards in blackjack must be shuffled randomly and that wagers in mini-baccarat cannot be altered once the first card is dealt until the hand concludes. The gaming enforcement division accepted the casino’s payment and warned that further violations would result in increased penalties. Ocean Casino Resort declined to comment on the incidents.
