ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — Ocean Casino Resort has taken down its famous “OCEAN” sign from atop its building, a move that started earlier this week. The removal marks the latest step in a broader facelift for the property, with new signage set to take its place by late April. The casino isn’t changing its name—just its look. The old lettering, long a fixture on the Atlantic City skyline, is being replaced with a modern LED setup featuring over 7,000 individual puck lights. This new system will glow in red, green, blue and white, programmable for a range of colors and patterns. It’s not just about flash, though—the LED tech slashes power use by 70% compared to neon, aligning with a push for efficiency. Eastern Sign Tech, based in Burlington, N.J., is handling the project, building on their past work with the casino’s rooftop sphere. This swap caps years of shedding old branding, a process that’s unfolded since the property shook off its Revel days. The casino has been tweaking its image, from the casino floor to its 460 new rooms added in 2022, aiming to cement its spot among Atlantic City’s top earners. The new sign, expected to light up by April’s end, promises to blend style with sustainability, giving the Boardwalk a fresh glow.
