SEA ISLE CITY, N.J. — A new digital sign is going up in Sea Isle City, aimed at giving both residents and visitors real-time updates on events, emergencies, and city services. Crews began installing the two-sided electronic display Tuesday at the corner of John F. Kennedy Boulevard and Central Avenue. Once complete, the 6-foot-by-9-foot screen will sit atop an 8-foot base and be visible to drivers entering town on JFK and those heading north on Central. The project was originally scheduled for completion by Memorial Day, but city officials now expect it to be fully operational sometime next week. The $65,150 sign was approved by Sea Isle City Council in March and is being supplied by vendor Numeritex. It features a weatherproof design and carries a five-year warranty. Sea Isle has used mobile signs at the same location in past years to announce road work and public events. The new permanent fixture will replace those smaller signs and provide a broader range of updates, from parking reminders and beach tag deadlines to storm alerts and entertainment schedules. While some residents have criticized the size and cost on social media, city officials say it’s a worthwhile investment. The Sea Isle City Chamber of Commerce and Revitalization also supports the upgrade. Officials say all messages on the sign will be timely and relevant, serving as both a public safety tool and an event calendar for the busy summer season.
