Sea Isle City, NJ. The Sea Isle City Police Department advanced two experienced officers to leadership roles during a ceremony at City Hall Monday, emphasizing the importance of their new responsibilities. Shawn Lesniewski was promoted from sergeant to lieutenant, while Michael Mol moved from patrolman to sergeant. Mayor Leonard Desiderio opened the event praising the department as the top police force in New Jersey. Police Chief Anthony Garreffi expressed appreciation for city officials' ongoing support and commended the officers for their dedication, loyalty, and service. Garreffi addressed the promoted officers directly, stressing the need for hard work, personal sacrifice, and the ability to lead by example. He challenged Lesniewski and Mol to exceed expectations from city leaders, the public, and their peers. The chief also recognized the vital role of law enforcement families in supporting officers. Lesniewski, 36, who joined full-time in 2011, has served as patrolman, detective, and sergeant, earning accolades including Officer of the Year and notably assisting in delivering a baby on duty. Mol, 40, has been a full-time officer since 2009, with prior summer officer experience starting in 2004. Both officers expressed pride and readiness to embrace their expanded duties. Lesniewski acknowledged the weight of expectations while Mol called the day a significant milestone for the department.
