Two Arrested in Atlantic City Overpass Shooting Death

ATLANTIC CITY — Authorities arrested a man and woman Wednesday in connection with the fatal shooting of Vaughn Lyons on Sunday night near Atlantic City High School. William A. Tucker, 52, faces murder and weapons charges related to the shooting on the Route 40 overpass at 1400 N. Albany Avenue. Tucker’s alleged accomplice, 30-year-old Sabrina Hearns Evans, is accused of driving him from the scene and attempting to help him flee. Lyons was found face-down with multiple gunshot wounds around 11:20 p.m. Sunday and was pronounced dead at the scene. A witness reported seeing Tucker and Lyons exit an SUV before hearing gunshots. Following the shooting, Tucker and Hearns Evans fled toward Philadelphia on the Atlantic City Expressway. Tucker was later cited for multiple motor vehicle violations, including driving under the influence.
A warrant search of Hearns Evans’ apartment uncovered handgun magazines with ammunition, suspected cocaine, pressed fentanyl pills, inositol powder, and digital scales. Both suspects face drug charges, including possession with intent within a school zone. Tucker has a criminal history prohibiting legal possession of handgun ammunition. Both remain in custody pending detention hearings. The Atlantic City Police Department and the Prosecutor’s Major Crimes Unit continue to investigate.
