Vineland Takes Control of Internet Access with $3.7 Million Grant for Citywide Broadband

VINELAND, New Jersey  — Vineland will develop its own broadband system after securing $3.7 million from New Jersey’s Broadband Infrastructure Deployment Equity grant. The city’s Municipal Broadband Utility plans to combine fiber-optic and wireless technologies, using existing public infrastructure to control costs and improve coverage. This project addresses areas where private providers have failed to deliver reliable, affordable high-speed internet. It is part of New Jersey’s $40 million statewide effort to expand internet access in underserved communities, including Atlantic and Cumberland counties. The program requires speeds of at least 100 megabytes per second and affordable service options. Funding comes from the American Rescue Plan.
