Wildwood Laundromat Could Be Demolished for Condo Development

WILDWOOD, N.J. — A laundromat that has operated for years at 5211 Park Boulevard in Wildwood may soon be demolished to make room for a four-unit condominium building. The property’s owner, 5211 Park, LLC, has submitted an application to the city seeking approval for the redevelopment project. The site is located in an R-1 Residential Zoning District, primarily intended for single-family homes. As multi-family housing is not automatically allowed in this zoning district, the applicant is requesting several variances and waivers, including exceptions for lot size, building coverage, setbacks, off-street parking, and curb design. If approved, the proposed development would reflect the growing trend in Wildwood to transform former commercial and public-use spaces into multi-family residential buildings. Public hearings and reviews by the city’s Planning and Zoning Board will determine the fate of the proposal.
