WILDWOOD, N.J. — A tougher enforcement of public safety measures in Wildwood, including a strict 10 p.m. curfew for minors, led to 138 arrests in July. Over half of those arrested were teens aged 12 to 19. In response to rising disturbances over the past summers, Wildwood introduced the 10 p.m. curfew, requiring minors to be with a parent or guardian after that time or face arrest. Additional regulations include restrictions on large bags on the boardwalk after 8 p.m., a ban on alcohol on the boardwalk and beaches, and limits on unsanctioned large gatherings. July saw 7,374 calls for service to the Wildwood Police Department, covering everything from traffic stops to noise complaints. Teenagers were arrested for offenses including curfew violations, shoplifting, and more serious crimes like possession of a handgun. Notable arrests included a 12-year-old for shoplifting and a 17-year-old charged with handgun possession. Wildwood’s increased law enforcement presence signals the city’s commitment to maintaining order and safety during the busy summer months, holding both minors and their guardians accountable for their behavior.
