US Embassy Celebrates America’s 250th Anniversary at Jerusalem Gala

The US Embassy in Jerusalem and the Museum of Tolerance Jerusalem marked the 250th anniversary of American independence Tuesday night with the rescheduled Freedom 250 gala, drawing diplomatic, political, cultural, and business figures to the museum’s campus. 

The event had been postponed from July during the Iran-Israel conflict and was held as Washington and Jerusalem emphasize their security partnership and shared democratic values. The embassy and museum partnered on the celebration for a second consecutive year. 

Emmy Award-winning actress Patricia Heaton served as mistress of ceremonies. Israeli singer Ishay Ribo appeared with the Israel National Police Orchestra, which performed “Hatikva,” while US diplomat Paul Kroeger performed “The Star-Spangled Banner.” 

The musical program also featured Tré Corley & The Music City Connection and actor, singer, and filmmaker Robert Davi. 

In a message released before the event, US Ambassador Mike Huckabee called the museum “an international beacon of hope and human dignity in the heart of Israel’s capital and a valued strategic partner of the US Embassy.” 

“This year, we gather at a truly historic moment,” Huckabee said. “As the US-Israel alliance continues to reach new heights, we celebrate not only 250 years of American independence but also the enduring partnership between two nations bound by shared values, democratic ideals, and an unwavering commitment to freedom.” 

The anniversary commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. The Jerusalem event was held at a museum that has become a venue for diplomatic and cultural gatherings, alongside exhibitions addressing Oct. 7, antisemitism, civic discourse, and Israeli society. 

Its outdoor amphitheater, built above an ancient aqueduct, hosted the gala’s musical program as the embassy’s America 250 observance returned to Jerusalem.
