Trump nominee for CDC director to appear before US Senate panel next week

WASHINGTON, July 8 (Reuters) – Erica Schwartz, President Donald Trump’s nominee to lead the U.S. CDC, will appear before the U.S. Senate’s health committee next week for her confirmation hearing, the committee said on Wednesday.

Trump nominated Schwartz, who had served as deputy surgeon general during the ‌COVID-19 pandemic, to become director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in April following multiple leadership shakeups at the health agency.

Schwartz will appear before the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions on July 15, the committee said in a statement.
