(Sioux City, IA) — President Trump says he’ll use the Defense Production Act to increase domestic gas and diesel production. Trump made the announcement Thursday during a campaign rally in Sioux City, Iowa. The law enacted in 1950 gives the president more power to increase U.S. oil production for national defense purposes, and is being invoked to help lower gas prices, which have risen during the war with Iran. Today, Trump will be in Florida, where he’ll be campaigning for Republican governor candidate Byron Donalds.
