Missiles Target UAE, Hormuz Shipping as President Trump Rules Out Iran Talks

Missiles were fired toward the United Arab Emirates on Tuesday, while a vessel came under Iranian attack in the Strait of Hormuz as US President Donald Trump ruled out negotiations with Tehran and said the US naval blockade of Iran would remain in effect.
President Trump said Washington was not engaged in negotiations with Tehran and had no plans to begin talks.
“There are no talks or discussions taking place, or planned, with the Islamic Republic of Iran. The naval blockade remains in full force. The Strait of Hormuz is open and operational. All naval mines have been removed or detonated,” President Trump wrote on his social media platform on Tuesday.
Later the same day, authorities in Abu Dhabi said missiles had been launched toward the UAE after sirens sounded across the country.
“UAE air defences detected two ballistic missiles launched from Iran toward the country, with the first falling outside the country’s territorial waters, while the second fell within the territorial waters,” said a statement posted by the UAE Ministry of Defence on X on Tuesday.
The president also spoke by phone with the president of the United Arab Emirates. The two discussed US-UAE cooperation, ways to strengthen bilateral ties and recent developments in the Middle East.
Two commercial vessels have also been attacked while passing through the Strait of Hormuz in recent days, killing at least one sailor as fewer ships continue to transit the waterway.
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations agency said both vessels were struck by unidentified projectiles while traveling through the strait.
One vessel was sailing near Oman when it was hit, killing a crew member, according to the Joint Maritime Information Center, a multinational organization.
UK maritime authorities reported a separate “crew casualty” aboard the second vessel but released no additional details.
Iran has not commented on either the UAE incident or the attack in the Strait of Hormuz.
