BRUSSELS, Oct 27 (Reuters) – The European Commission has proposed expanding the headcount and the powers of the joint European Union border police force Frontex to include transfers of migrants between non-EU countries, Commissioners Henna Virkunnen and Magnus Brunner said on Tuesday.
Frontex’s standing corps would be gradually expanded to 30,000 officers, with a reaction force able to deploy on short notice in case of emergency, they said.
