Iran Sets Terms for US Talks, Warns of ‘Decisive War’ if Rejected

Iran has presented Washington with conditions for returning to negotiations to end the war, while warning it is prepared for a “decisive war” if the US rejects its terms, Iran’s security chief, Mohsen Rezaee, said Saturday.
Tehran is demanding an end to hostilities on all fronts, the release of frozen Iranian funds and an end to the US naval blockade. Rezaee told Al Jazeera that the conditions were transmitted through Qatar and that Iran is awaiting a response from President Donald Trump. The full demands have not been released.
Pakistan has also acted as an intermediary between Tehran and Washington.
“If Washington wants to extricate itself from the complex situation it created with its own hands and avoid deepening its entanglement, it has no choice but to accept Iran’s rights and conditions,” Rezaee wrote on X.
Trump cut short a weekend visit to Camp David and returned to the White House to consider the US response. Washington is weighing whether to resume diplomatic negotiations or pursue renewed military escalation after previously considering options to heavily target the Iranian regime.
Rezaee said Tehran believes it must change its approach toward Washington following the US withdrawal from the memorandum of understanding. He also warned that further US or Israeli attacks could lead Iran to withdraw from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
Addressing Iran’s military readiness, Rezaee said Tehran has identified vulnerabilities in the US military and is better prepared than ever to counter American airstrikes. Iran recently tested an anti-ship missile near a US aircraft carrier, he added.
Rezaee also discussed the escalating fighting between Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthis, saying Tehran wants the conflict to end and believes the Houthis are seeking an agreement with Saudi Arabia.
His remarks followed another round of Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia.
